The Man Behind the Optometrist

Oregon roots.
A Brazos Eye family.

Fellowship-trained refractive adjunct. Therapeutic glaucoma specialist. Husband. Father. And the doctor whose path to Waco began with faith, ambition, a dinner presentation, and a practice that became home.

Who He Is

Values first. Patients always.

Raised in Forest Grove with faith and family at the center of everything, Dr. Tanous built his career on the same foundation: show up for people, grow constantly, and never stop looking for ways to serve patients better.

At Brazos Eye, that shows up in glaucoma medical management, refractive surgery co-management, dry eye care, and the premium lens conversations that help patients see clearly for the life they want to live.

The Journey

How He Got Here

Forest Grove, OR

Faith, Family & a Calling to Help

Dr. Jordan Tanous grew up in Forest Grove, Oregon in a very religious household where God came first and family was always close. Those strong values — and a genuine desire to help others — are what ultimately led him to a career in eye care.

Pacific University

Exercise Science to Doctor of Optometry

He attended Pacific University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science with a focus on integrative physiology. He continued at Pacific until he became a Doctor of Optometry at the age of 26.

Texas Bound

Chasing the Best Opportunity

His ambition to grow and excel in the field brought him to Texas, where he sought the strongest job prospect he could find in corporate optometry — a move shaped by purpose as much as opportunity.

A Dinner Presentation

The Conversation That Changed His Path

Dr. Tanous met Dr. Beau Swann at a dinner where Dr. Swann was presenting. That evening sparked a conversation about expanding his ability to treat patients with glaucoma — and opened a door he had been looking for.

Joining the Swann Family

Several months later, Dr. Tanous met Dr. Russell E. Swann. Shortly after, he became part of the Brazos Eye family. Since then, he has received advanced fellowship training under Dr. Beau Swann and is fulfilling his goal of helping patients to the fullest capacity.

Fellowship Training

Growing under Dr. Beau Swann

What began at a dinner presentation became something much deeper. After joining Brazos Eye Surgery of Texas, Dr. Tanous received advanced fellowship training under Dr. Beau Swann — sharpening his skills in refractive surgery co-management and therapeutic glaucoma care.

That training is what allows him today to help patients to the fullest capacity — carrying forward the standard of care the Swann family has built in Central Texas for decades.

Love at Brazos Eye

Kaitlyn & a growing family

Brazos Eye also led Dr. Tanous to cross paths with his wife, Kaitlyn. They married in 2025, and he was blessed to inherit her daughter, Kinsley.

Their family grew again recently with the arrival of their son, Zayne Alexander. Together they enjoy staying active — whether it's traveling, playing tennis, going for walks, kayaking, or playing a board game at home.

The newest chapter of Dr. Tanous's story is written at home — with a wife he met at the practice, a daughter he loves as his own, and a son the whole Brazos Eye family celebrated alongside them.

Life Outside the Clinic

Building a life together

When work is done, Dr. Tanous is most at home with Kaitlyn and their kids — staying active and making the most of every moment together:
