Dr. Forrest Beau Swann, MS, MD, FWCRS
Triple Fellowship-Trained Ophthalmologist
Fellowship-trained in Glaucoma, Refractive Surgery, and Cornea — bringing subspecialty depth to Central Texas that was previously only available in Dallas or Houston.
A Surgeon Built for Central Texas.
Dr. Swann is the founder of Brazos Eye Surgery of Texas and the only ophthalmologist in Waco offering the full spectrum of refractive, corneal, and glaucoma surgical care under one roof. After completing three dedicated fellowships, Dr. Swann returned to Central Texas to bring world-class subspecialty eye care to the communities that deserve it most.
A fellowship is one to two years of advanced training in a subspecialty after completing a full ophthalmology residency. Most eye surgeons complete zero or one fellowship. Dr. Swann completed three — an extraordinary and rare combination that gives our patients access to diagnostic and surgical depth unavailable elsewhere in Central Texas.
This isn't just a credential. It means that when you come in for cataract surgery, Dr. Swann can also evaluate whether your pressure suggests early glaucoma, assess your cornea's suitability for a premium lens, and create a complete treatment plan — rather than sending you across town (or across the state) for separate opinions.
Three Fellowships
Glaucoma Fellowship
Advanced training in glaucoma diagnosis, medical management, laser therapy (SLT), MIGS, and conventional glaucoma surgery. The most common cause of irreversible blindness — treated by a specialist.
Refractive Surgery Fellowship
Dedicated training in LASIK, PRK, ICL, refractive lens exchange, and the full spectrum of vision correction surgery — the rarest fellowship combination in ophthalmology.
Cornea Fellowship
Advanced cornea surgery including DSEK, DMEK, corneal cross-linking for keratoconus, complex dry eye management, and surgical rehabilitation of diseased or injured corneas.
What This Means for Your Care
Triple fellowship training isn't just impressive on paper — it changes the care you receive in the exam room.
Complete picture, one visit
Your cataract evaluation can simultaneously assess glaucoma risk and corneal health — no separate referrals, no extra trips.
Safer refractive surgery
A cornea fellowship means Dr. Swann evaluates your candidacy for LASIK or ICL with a depth of corneal knowledge most refractive surgeons don't have.
Surgical options most can't offer
MIGS glaucoma surgery, DMEK corneal transplants, and ICL implantation — all under one roof in Waco.
Long-term relationship
Whether you need LASIK at 30, cataract surgery at 65, or glaucoma management at 70 — you have one trusted surgeon who knows your complete eye history.
FWCRS-Certified Refractive Surgeon
Waco's only provider certified by the World College of Refractive Surgery and Visual Sciences (FWCRS) — the credential that distinguishes true refractive specialists from general ophthalmologists.
FWCRS fellowship certification means Dr. Swann completed advanced refractive surgery training beyond standard ophthalmology residency — LASIK, PRK, ICL, and complex refractive cataract care. In Waco, you do not need to drive to Dallas or Austin to see a surgeon with this level of refractive specialization.
