Fellowship-Trained Refractive Adjunct · Therapeutic Glaucoma Specialist
Dr. Tanous brings fellowship-trained refractive surgery co-management, therapeutic glaucoma expertise, and advanced dry eye care to Brazos Eye Surgery of Texas — helping patients at every step from diagnosis through treatment, alongside Dr. Beau Swann and the surgical team.
About Dr. Tanous
Dr. Jordan Tanous is a fellowship-trained refractive adjunct and therapeutic glaucoma specialist whose path to eye care was shaped early — in a faith-centered Forest Grove, Oregon home where helping others always came first.

He earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science with a focus on integrative physiology at Pacific University, then continued there until he became a Doctor of Optometry at the age of 26. His ambition to grow and excel brought him to Texas, where he sought the strongest opportunity in corporate optometry — and eventually to a dinner where Dr. Beau Swann was presenting.
That conversation sparked his interest in expanding his ability to treat patients with glaucoma. Several months later, he met Dr. Russell E. Swann — and shortly after, became part of the Brazos Eye family. Since then, he has received advanced fellowship training under Dr. Beau Swann and is fulfilling his goal of helping patients to the fullest capacity.
Within our practice, Dr. Tanous manages glaucoma medically, co-manages refractive surgery patients, leads our dry eye clinic, and partners with Dr. Swann on premium lens selection — bridging optometric and surgical care under one roof.
In His Own Words
Why Optometry?
Dr. Tanous didn't stumble into eye care — he found it on the way to clock out of a summer job, one pair of glasses at a time.
One of my first full-time summer jobs in high school was at Costco in Hillsboro, Oregon. I originally worked in the food court — dishing out hot dogs, wearing non-slip boots and a hairnet for my face and beard. Although I enjoy hard work, I would leave every night with soggy shoes and, eventually, missing fingerprints from the amount of dishes and harsh chemicals I was exposed to.
Every day I would pass the optical department on my way to clock in and out for work. I could tell that the ladies working there had a laid-back and enjoyable job, so I decided to apply for a salesman position within that department.
There was one event during my time in the optical department that changed the course of my life forever. I was asked by a mother with three children — two of which I could see at the time — to dispense a pair of glasses for one of her daughters. I picked up the pair of glasses and came up to the mother and asked who the lucky lady was to receive her new glasses. Then I saw a little hand pop up from the third child, unbeknownst to me at the time, and say, “Me!”
I had to lean forward and look over the counter to see the excited face of a two-year-old girl ready to try on her new glasses. After happily helping her put her glasses on, I could see in real time how her world would be forever changed. She first looked around the warehouse at all of the lights and pallets with the array of products on them — and then she looked at her mother. As she smiled from ear to ear, she touched her mother's face and shouted:
