These are the roles we most often hire for at Brazos Eye Surgery of Texas. Experience in ophthalmology is a plus — but a strong work ethic, warmth with patients, and a team-first attitude matter most.

Ophthalmic Scribe

Support our physicians in real time by documenting patient encounters accurately and efficiently — freeing doctors to focus fully on the person in front of them.

Key responsibilities

  • Document physician–patient encounters in the electronic medical record during exams
  • Record history, exam findings, assessment, and plan with speed and precision
  • Assist with clinic organization, patient flow, and communication between clinical staff
  • Prepare charts and pull relevant prior records before each patient encounter
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality in all documentation
  • Support the clinical team with administrative tasks that keep the day running smoothly

Front Desk Specialist

Be the first voice and first smile our patients experience — coordinating schedules, insurance, and arrivals so every visit starts with confidence and care.

Key responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and manage check-in and check-out with professionalism
  • Schedule appointments, confirm visits, and coordinate surgeon and optometry calendars
  • Verify insurance eligibility, collect copays, and answer billing questions accurately
  • Answer phones, route messages, and respond to patient questions with patience
  • Maintain a welcoming, organized front office environment
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact between patients and the clinical team

Surgical Counselor

Guide patients through one of the most important decisions of their lives — helping them understand surgical options, costs, and expectations with honesty, empathy, and expertise.

Key responsibilities

  • Counsel LASIK, PRK, ICL, cataract, and other surgical candidates on procedure options
  • Review candidacy, risks, benefits, and realistic outcomes in plain language patients trust
  • Coordinate surgical scheduling, pre-operative instructions, and financing conversations
  • Work closely with surgeons and technicians to ensure seamless handoffs into surgery
  • Follow up with patients before procedure day to answer questions and ease concerns
  • Maintain detailed counseling notes and support the patient journey from consult to clear vision
